How Does Notipal Work?
Your Website Throws Broken Links & Errors
Your Website performance is mission critical; the last things you need are downtime, outages, broken links, 'page not found', and your Website showing error it's default, un-branded, unfriendly error pages (what does "Internal Server Error" mean to your visitors?).
With Websites becoming increasingly important to businesses, information sharing, and online branding & communications - whilst increasingly being relied upon for more dynamic features with external links, dependencies, complex databases, code & configuration - your Website will inevitably succumb to broken links, downtime, missing pages, and outages. Even Google, with a less than 100% uptime record, suffers from downtime.
Do your business operations, revenues, and visitors always have to lose out to a broken link or error page, or could you catch the problems before they effect your Website's performance?
What If You Could Bring The Vistors Back?
Instead of bewildering your visitors with a strange error page when your Website breaks, wouldn't it make more sense to provide a customized notification service (almost like an 'answer machine' or 'voicemail') which would, a) be branded & styled to match the rest of your Website, and, b) email people when your Website is back up, so as not to completely waste your visitors time, or risk losing their page views forever?
Let's say your Website is suffering from an outage and, therefore, throwing a '500 page'; Notipal integration would enable your vistiors to request a notification of when your Website is back up and running, rather than leaving them in the lurch, constantly right-clicking for the 'refresh' button (for the few seconds they'll give you), before leaving your Website, with little incentive to ever return.
Notipal Helps
You need a notification system that springs in to action when your Website breaks, and we've got the solution. Notipal gives you a tiny, lightweight piece of code to copy & paste in to your Website error page templates. This code creates a form with an input for your visitor's email addresses. When your Website breaks, your visitors will still see your error page, but this time they have the choice of entering their email address for a follow-up notification.
Notipal immediately notifies you when a visitor hits an error page, we handle the collection of emails, and we also handle the batch processing of the outgoing emails when you've told us that you're to bring your visitors back again. All of these features are delivered to you in an easy-to-use administration interface.
Notipal makes those inevitable Website breakages far less painful.
Track Breakages on a Per URL Basis
Your Notipal dashboard lets you view your outages & breakages on a per URL basis.
For example, let's say your Website has a built-in search engine. If your search engine breaks, the rest of your site might stay online, but visitors to http://YourWebsite.com/search will see the error page, and they won't be able to search for what they've been looking for. However, if your Website error page use the Notipal email form, we can collect the email addresses of your visitors who specifically want to know when your search engine facility has been fixed.
Perhaps a link to a product page has broken and your Website is returning 'Page Not Found' - if you're using Notipal, you'll instantly know about the problem and get a chance to regain your reputation with the visitors who were interested in a product they couldn't find.
Customize Your Notification Emails
But what will your visitors see when they receive a notification email?
Notipal Basic tells your visitors that your site has been fixed. It's that simple. Notipal Professional, Business, and Enterprise enable you to completely customize your notification emails, giving you the opportunity to offer an explanation of the breakage, and perhaps a special offer or promotional discount to the visitors directly affected by the problem behind the error page (5% off the next purchase, perhaps?).
